OUR MISSION

To be a leader in fuel storage systems by providing environmentally friendly, innovative, cost-effective, internationally accredited products and services. We aim to ensure that all those involved in our ventures benefit from them.

Standard Aboveground Storage Tank (SASTANK)

Forgeweld Standard Aboveground Storage Tanks (SASTanks) are cost-effective, single-wall steel constructions coated with a black twin-pack epoxy paint and fabricated in accordance with SANS 1535. SASTanks are suitable for storing class II and class III liquids, i.e. those with a flashpoint above 38° celcius. Venting is provided for pressure relief.

Horizontal SASTanks range in size from 4.5m³ to 82m³ and Vertical SASTanks from 14m³ to 82m³ and can be provided with manhole, cradles, ladders, platform and handrail. SASTanks on skids are also manufactured - these are normally used on construction sites; the skids allowing the tank to be dragged over short distances.

Please Note: In terms of South African National Standard (SANS) 10131: 2004 - Aboveground Storage Tanks for Petroleum Products, SASTanks should be located at least 3m from buildings, boundaries, drains and combustible materials in a secure area, on a level site, away from overhead cables. SASTanks installed in urban areas require bunding, as do those installed in sensitive rural areas. SASTanks should not be installed close to any type of waterway.

We encourage all our customers to read the applicable codes - the protection of property, people and environment is everyone's responsibility. Copies are available from Standards South Africa or see www.stansa.co.za.
